This journey began in 2012, in Cambodia, when Northern Light's founder, Rachel, unknowingly visited a human trafficking shelter -the Rapha House- which broke her heart, and changed the course of her life forever.
Rachel grew up around coffee and has worked in the industry for over 20 years. Her vision for Northern Light Coffee was to turn an army of coffee drinkers into freedom fighters, waging a war against the horrors of sexual slavery. She envisioned a place for women and children to break the bondage to which they’d been subjected, to start again, to be redeemed.
Rachel founded Northern Light Coffee in 2015 as a way to shine a light on the darkness of human trafficking, and to build a refuge, where survivors can begin again.
COFFEE & EMPOWERING
We are a light in the dark world of sex slavery. We offer fresh, high-quality coffee to spread awareness and provide resources for women escaping human trafficking.
Our coffee is roasted-to-order and brings light into the lives who drink it and gives life back to those we are fighting for.
Is that no woman feels captive. That no woman falls back into a lifestyle of sexual exploitation. And that all those who are free will fight to disrupt the demand and end it for good.
Our Team expands further beyond those employed at Northern Light Coffee. The continued help and support of our family, friends, community, customers, fellow freedom fighters have built this company into what it is today and where it is going tomorrow.
HOW YOU CAN HELP.
Our desire is to implement the Nordic Model in our community by offering resources for women escaping sex trafficking.
We are developing a mentoring and apprenticeship program for woman ready to leave human trafficking shelters and rehabilitation programs.
Help us to help others by spreading the word, trying our delicious fresh-roasted coffee, and sharing us with friends and on social media.
